Marcel is a versatile WR/DB who is willing to play where he is needed the most on either Offense or Defense. A valuable attribute sought after by all coaches is a guy willing to put the team before self. You find that and more in this physical yet Quick on his Feet Athlete that is Marcel Dabo.
How long have you been playing football?
I started playing football in 2016 for the Tübingen Red Knights , after I went to the US for an exchange program for a couple of weeks. In Tübingen I made myself familiar with the Wide Receiver Position. With great coaching in Tübingen I quickly developed and got better. With time I also started playing Cornerback. In 2018 I switched teams and went to the Stuttgart Scorpions in order to get better and get more competition.
What are your strengths as a player?
Personally, I think my strengths as a player are that I’m very athletic which makes me a versatile player on offense, defense and special teams. As a receiver my strengths are playing physical but also taking advantage of the defense by using my speed or leaping ability for contested catches. Off the field, I always put my team in front if my own interests because nothing is more important than the team. Still, I am very ambitious and I always wanne get the best out of me.
Have you taken the SAT?
I haven’t taken the SAT yet.
Who do you watch the most and try to play like?
Honestly, I don’t have that one player I idolize. There are many talented football players out there who all have their strengths and weaknesses. But what makes a football player is not just his action on the field but also off the field, wherefore I have to go with either Julio Jones or Adam Thielen. They are both versatile players who can be used in the slot or wide. Also they don’t talk that much and have problems off the field but just play ball.
What are your expectations for this year?
My expectations for this year are definitely getting as far as we can get in the GFL Juniors Season with my team the Stuttgart Scorpions. Last year we fell short and lost to the Paderborn Dolphins in the playoffs but this year I’m confident that we have a good chance of winning the Junior Bowl. Also my goal is to get better and compete against the best in order to play at college level after my juniors football time.
Why should a team recruit you?
Like I said I’m a versatile player and open to play both ways or even switch positions in order the be the best player. I think I have the physical conditions to play football at a higher level and I’m also willing to get better and improve myself as far as possible. Also, I am a team player who can be a leader for the team to win.
