The University of Maryland just gained a big time recruit from Europe! Liridon Murjeznovic is a 6’7ft and 300 pound offensive tackle from Holland . This massive athlete with Bosinian and Albanian roots began his American football career with one of Europe’s most well known clubs, the Amsterdam Crusaders back in 2018. In 2019 Liridon first began to catch the attention of college football coaches and recruiters. Since then he spent two seasons at Garden City Community College in the US, as part of the teams offensive line. Unfortunatley he did not get a chance to play as much football as he would have liked due to the covid-19 outbreak in 2020. Liridion was even forced to leave campus and the United States several times due to the pandemic. This made his college football recruiting process very challengeing. Even with all of the challenges that he faced, Liridon was able to find a college football home at the University of Maryland going into the 2022 season.
I would say committing and visiting Maryland has been my favorite moment so far. The whole journey towards maryland has been a great experience, it is something I never imagined would happen!
Depending on when I get to maryland, if I join them this spring its mainly being focused on getting into the right shape so I can get dressed for games and maybe even play a couple snaps. If I’m going in June than its working hard back home and then I got a year to get ready for season in 2023.
If it weren’t for football I would be a special investigator officer ( similar to a police officer.)
I know I have to work hard at Maryland because they are one of the biggest colleges in college football. There is going to be some challenges of course but I’m determined to give it my all and the coaching staff from maryland have big expectations from me and they give me a huge confidence boost because they trust me and are confident in my capabilities. In my personal life, I’m leaving my family and girlfriend back home, I’m definitely going to miss them and the other way around but we all know I’m going to Maryland to achieve something life changing for all of us.
I would like to train with Andrew Withworth. He was coached by Coach Paul Alexander and coach Paul Alexander gave an o-line workshop in Amsterdam where I met him and he is one of the main reasons I got in touch with Maryland. I’m a 100% sure that Andrew Withworth can share his knowledge and experience with me so I can even grow more as a player and have a long career like he has.
I had a difficult time at Garden because of Covid, I was send back home twice because of a Covid outbreak on campus and that delayed my growing process. At the end it helped me out as well because I did not play for them and therefor I have more eligible years to play for Maryland.
I had no doubt at all, even though I did not play at Garden City, I knew I would be college player one day. I think if I would let any doubt cross my mind I would have quite on football during my time at Garden City.
A huge part that helped me commit to Maryland is due to the Coaching staff and especially Coach Locksley and coach Brasswell. They both have an incredible amount of coaching experience and are eager to be the best and win every single game. Besides those two great coaches the whole coaching staff has either experience from the NFL/College or both, so I know I am in great hands if not the best hands possible.
The experience as a whole is something I’m looking forward to at Maryland. I think that college football is more entertaining than NFL sometimes. Yes, you can make a huge amount of money in the NFL but it all starts in college. Being able to play a homegame for Maryland is going to be an experience I’ll never forgot and I can’t wait for that day to come!
