The 2022 U19 European Champion Tournament has come and gone. This year’s tournament featured a unique format paring the 11 countries into 3 groups. All groupings were based off the previous tournament results in 2019. Group A featured the top four countries Austria, Sweden, Denmark, and France. Group B featured Finland, Italy, Great Britain and Spain. While Group C featured Germany, Czech Republic and Switzerland.
Although this year’s format presented several exciting matchups, only one country can claim the title as best in Europe. Team Austria won this years tournament, making this Austria’s sixth consecutive European U19 championship ( 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022).
Along with the conclusion of this years tournament, several countries will be regulated into new grouping based on their results. Team France fell short in a close game against Denmark for 3rd place in group A. This means that France will be relegated to group B. While Team Finland won the championship game against Team Italy in group B. Meaning Finland will now move up to group A. Seeing as Great Britain beat Team Spain for the bronze trophy of group B, team Spain will be regulated to group C.
