Chris Feck has moved to the Wiesbaden Phantoms as defensive coordinator. His successor is Marc Gnörich. The 35-year-old comes from the Swiss U19 national team, for which he also works as DC.
“We are happy to have quickly found a replacement for Chris in Marc,” emphasizes U19 head coach Christian Freund. “His CV and his work as Defense Coordinator of the Swiss national youth team fit into our concept of sustainable youth work.”
Gnörich apparently feels comfortable on the defensive side, but also made some trips to the offense. From 2000 to 2003, he not only played as a linebacker for the Worms Dragons, but also as a quarterback. With the Weinheim Longhorns, Marc Gnörich was then used until 2006 in the offense and defense – as a tight end and linebacker. With the seniors of the Weinheimer followed two seasons as a defensive end, 2007 to 2009 the new Wiesbaden DC was part of the Viernheim Redskins as linebacker, defensive end and running back and then until 2013 also as quarterback a Bürstadt Redskin. This was followed by a season as defensive end and linebacker with the Heidelberg Bulls and in 2015 a guest appearance as a linebacker with the Mainz Golden Eagles, before Gnörich went on the hunt with the Heidelberg Hunters as a linebacker in 2016 and 2017. 2019 was followed by a season – again as a linebacker – with the Bern Grizzlies.
Even as a coach, Gnörich has already come a long way. He coached the linebackers of the Bürstadt Redskins, was defensive coordinator and linebackers coach of the U19 of the Mainz Golden Eagles as well as head coach, DC and linebackers coach of the Heidelberg Hunters before it led him to the Bern Grizzlies. In Switzerland, Marc Gnörich coached in the U19 as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach and took over this area of responsibility for the Regio Elite. For the Swiss National Team, the new Wiesbaden coach is currently still U19 defensive coordinator.
