David Ojabo
David Ojabo, the 6’4 250lbs athletic freak out of Nigeria/United Kingdom is one of the Draft’s biggest stories so far. A 21 year old junior playing for the University of Michigan, he is one of Europe’s most exciting prospects to ever enter the NFL Draft. While he isn’t the most polished pass rusher, he uses all of his athleticism to gain the advantage from the edge. He has insanely quick feet, therefore an amazing get off. He combines that quickness with his ability to bend which makes it really hard for tackles to block him consistently. If he lands in the right spot where his pass rushing technique gets coached up, he could become a regular pro bowl edge defender in the NFL. Although he isn’t a polished run defender, his skill set alone would make him a sure top 20 pick. Unfortunately, after his Achilles tear, his medical condition suggests that he falls down the board of a lot of teams. He still should hear his name called in the first two rounds of the Draft.
Bernhard Reimann
There is a lot to talk about when watching 6’7 305lbs Bernhard Raimann’s tape. What first stands out is his combination of size and quickness, which comes from his Wide Receiver and Tight End background. While the Austrian Tackle prospect out of Central Michigan is an older prospect, as a 24 year old senior , he isn’t as polished as other top tackles in the draft and still has a lot to learn especially in pass protection. With his run blocking skills and his very quick first few steps off the ball, he can be your day 1 starting Tackle. when drafting him late in the 1st or early in the 2nd round and he could develop to that important franchise Left Tackle role. Teams considering picking him should be aware of how he would fit in their offense, as he would fit best in a wide zone scheme, which currently a lot of teams in the NFL such as the 49ers, the Titans or the Dolphins run.
Daniel Faalele
This is without overexaggerating the biggest person in this year’s Draft. The Australian native who played for the University of Minnesota stands at 6’9 380lbs, and while also being a Senior, he is only 22 years old. He brings elite strength and a ton of physical upside with him, and watching Jordan Mailata enter the NFL as a raw, big Australian Tackle who needs to learn and understand the position to its fullest. The story of Jordan Mailata and Daniel Faalele are pretty similar. Faalele is already good in overpowering defensive linemen but needs to know how to handle edge defenders with a lot of speed to excel at the next level. If any NFL team wants that developmental guy on the Offensive line who clearly has the potential to be special very soon, and doesn’t want their Tackles to be on the move every other play, they should strongly consider Faalele on day 2 of this year’s Draft.
